Jacqueline Van Starkenburg

Registered Provisional Psychologist

I started my career working with special needs children as a behavioural strategist, then went on to work with youth in group care. Most of my career has been in child intervention with a specialty in family violence work. I have an in-depth understanding of child development, complex family issues, abuse, and trauma.

Having a passion for giving clients a voice, I have a gentle and encouraging approach. Starting therapy can be scary and difficult, and it can be a place for healing, growth, and can even be fun. I use a variety of modalities that best suit the needs of my clients and work from a trauma informed and attachment-based lens. Offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Therapeutic Play, Solution Focused strategies, Strengths Based, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I am open to working with children, youth, families, and adults for a variety of issues such as bullying, divorce, abuse, self-esteem issues, family violence, grief/loss, anxiety, self-harm, behavioural issues, identity issues, and depression. I’m highly collaborative and offer a “we are in this together” approach. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey with you.

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Walking alone in our most challenging times can be a scary and overwhelming experience. As a therapist, my priority is to provide a safe and open space to process the challenging experiences of life and better understand our emotional responses. With education and life experience, I aim to help guide clients through the life circumstances and traumas that impact thoughts, feelings, and relationship dynamics. In entering the counselling space, my hope for each individual is a feeling of relief in knowing that you are not alone in your journey, and that you are gaining the tools and strategies to better manage life when it feels the most difficult. This is achieved through the evidence based practice of Emotion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Additionally, I provide EMDR therapy for trauma related processing.

A session with me may involve exploring childhood/family history, current attachment/relationship dynamics, discovering restricting thought patterns, exploring relationships to various emotions, and practicing mindfulness activities for emotion regulation. I use a dynamic approach to help clients work through issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, OCD, PTSD, anger, parenting, boundaries, self-esteem/inner critic work, and disordered eating. My primary areas of focus include trauma processing, self-esteem development, intimate partner violence recovery, and relationship conflict. Through my experience in working as a clinical counsellor in British Columbia since 2021, I have helped children and youth aged 7 to 18, adult individuals, and couples.

I look forward to meeting with you and beginning your journey towards healing!

Navjoyt Mann

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hello! My name is Navjoyt Mann but I go by Nav, and it's a pleasure to introduce myself to this wonderful community. Over the last decade, my professional journey has been devoted to working closely with children, where I've had the privilege of witnessing their growth and development. With a Masters in Counselling Psychology and my current role as a provisional psychologist, I'm deeply passionate about understanding the intricacies of the human mind and emotions. My experiences have been incredibly rewarding, and they've deepened my passion for understanding the complexities of human behaviour and the power of counselling.

One of my specializations is as a certified EMDR therapist, where I've had the privilege of helping individuals navigate through challenging experiences and to find healing. I provide therapy by using the following approaches: EMDR, CBT, and mindfulness. Additionally, I am pursuing my doctorate in psychology. I can provide therapy in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish my role as a wife and a mother to two delightful daughters, aged 1 and 3. Family is at the core of everything I do, and their joy and growth inspire me every day.

When I'm not immersed in the world of education and therapy, you'll often find me in the serene embrace of the mountains, taking leisurely walks, reading books that transport me to different worlds, and journaling to capture the moments that move me.

I'm incredibly excited to be part of this community and look forward to the rewarding journey of working with you as your psychologist!
